Why GPS-Fun.com?

A: I love my GPS unit, and the world it has opened up for me. I love mixing high-tech electronics with exploration of the outdoors, participating in GPS-related communities spread all over the world, spending time with my wife and son, and getting more exercise than my desk at work or couch at home provides...GPS recreation activities give me all of those things and more. I started to accumulate a great collection of bookmarks on my Internet browser, and thought I would share them with anybody who finds this website.

Geocaching was the beginning of my love affair with GPS recreation. I found geocaching.com, and thought I had died and gone to heaven; the number and variety of caches available to me seemed infinite. I expanded almost by accident into benchmark hunting, finding some while geocaching, and logging them online. Geodashing, geosnapping/geographing, and trackables came next, and from that point, the floodgate opened, and I just kept finding out about more and more ways to have fun in the outdoors using my GPS.

I'm also excited about all of the GPS-related recreation opportunities out there that I still have to try: other cache listing sites, the Corner Corner, soak.net and swimmingholes.org, highpoints (county, state, and otherwise), impact craters, the National Map Corps, and so on. Each of these offers a unique opportunity to use my GPSr to enjoy the outdoors. Some of these will be awesome, other will be...less so...but I'll be happy to try them all, and share my experiences with visitors to the site.

I hope that you, a GPS-Fun.com visitor, will do the same: visit the GPS recreations links you find on this site (or others you here about), and report back on your experience. I will certainly add a link to almost any GPS related site, and would also love to post your stories (and pictures) about GPS adventures, gear (good, bad, or ugly), books, etc. Visitors will be the secret ingredient if GPS-Fun is to become a success, and I want to thank you in advance for your participation.
